If the tranny is not low on fluid, then there are problems coming if it doesn't go into gear right away. BE CAREFUL.

First off is the automatic shifter is really resistant when you try to put it into any driving position.

2nd is the check engine light is on and the dealer said that it was most likely a 100k check for the emissions. I have never heard of the light going on for that so I was wondering if he was full of it.

Welcome!

Not trying to bust your ***** or anything but there is no such car.....Ford stopped putting LX on the name in 93....just like there is no such Mustang SRS.....people see the SRS on the wheel and dash thinking thats the model when it stands for safety restraint system (the air bags)....

Anyway.... the dealer is a ****ing retard..there is no such indicator. The stiff shifter could be multiple things such as partially melted or what not causing the cable to bind, the shifter itself starting to seize from dirt can crap being spilled on/in it or it could be something internal in the trans.

The problems are easy checks if you can get the car away for a few and you know what your doing.... take the car to a part store and get the codes read.... then jack up the car and take the shift cable off the trans and then operate the shifter...if its still stiff then its the shifter or the cable....if it moves easily move the shift mech on the trans itself and see how stiff that is.... just be sure to install the cable in the same spot as you removed it ( same gear)
