Exclamation Advice!

I need other peoples help on a mustang lx that I found at a car dealership. its a year 2000 CONVERTIBLE MUSTANG LX that only has 117k miles on it. Im on a budget and saw this and thought it was perfect. after test driving it I love it but it had a few problems that I was wondering if they were easy fixes.

First off is the automatic shifter is really resistant when you try to put it into any driving position.

2nd is the check engine light is on and the dealer said that it was most likely a 100k check for the emissions. I have never heard of the light going on for that so I was wondering if he was full of it.

I'd pass. Tranny shouldn't be that hard to shift and the light should be cleared by dealer if that's all it is.

If you really want the car, then tell the salesman that you will only purchase the car, after the problems you mentioned have been fixed. No fix No purchase. I would say they are lying about the check engine light. Most people are going to be turned off buying a car with a check engine light on. Dealers know this. If remedying the problem is just turning off the light, why have they not done it? They would have had to check the codes to know what code it was throwing, so again why was it not reset?

thanks for the advice guys! I called the dealer and told him to fix the problems and I would be more willing to put down some money on it.
