Default how many MPGs

hey guys was considering getting a v6 for a daily driver. Just wondered how the fuel mileage is with these and over all reliability ?

Haven't really paid much attention to fuel consumption, I just know it's better than my 86 rx7 was lol. As far as reliability some guy on here had 600,000 something miles on his before he traded it for a new car. Said he saw a new owner driving it after that as well so it's still running. Keep up with regular maintenance and ANY little sputter or creek addressed as soon as you hear it and any car can last quite a while.

Nice Mach 1 by the way, I'm jealous.

MPG is all over the board with the V6s. In general I find that they average around 22-24 mpg mixed driving.

Thanks guys. Trying to find a decent price DD since my focus is getting. Rough. I like the familar car since i have a new edge already and the fact theyre easy to work on having 4 wheel disc and 1 piece wheel bearings ect.

I can tell you that there's some weird thing with the 00's that year seems to have some crappy gas mileage curse for most people. Definitely stick with a new edge if you get one.
04 has a 3.9 if you wanna make yourself feel special lol but there's no difference in the 3.8 and 3.9 ford saved some money by using some van parts for the final year.

01+ has the updated interior like your mach. It should also be said that my car has been the most reliable thing in my family- only parts that have replaced from wear are front wheel bearings, and some bulbs. 74k on it.

I dont really pay all that much attention...at a guess from a trip the other day...an 01 I had half a tank and drove maybe 70 or so miles and still had a 4th left. I also drive pretty hard and leave it in 2nd at around 4500 rpm a lot too.

I'm averaging about 27/28 for a combined MPG. That's with hitting redline several times a week.

I don't think my 6er ever averaged better then my GT, they have a similar fuel demand for the amount of air that moves through the motor, around town I'd do 16-17 in the 6er and like 19 on the highway, my GT averaged about 20 constantly maybe more on the high way if I really stayed out of it. Might of been that my 6 was an auto and GT was a 5 speed tho

I recall hearing something about the PCV system being screwy on some 00 and that premium fuel would help.

For the prices new edges are going for I would buy based on what you can get the best deal on (either v6 or GT)
