Default do you think cars will be even more fast in the coming years or have we hit the limit

just wondering do you think we have reached the limit to what you can do with engines or are we close?

my 98 v6 has stock 150 hp to the crank and the new ones have 300hp dafuq!!!!! do u think in coming years they will be even faster or are we nearing the limit of what we can do with metal and stuff?

also i see they getting more and more expensive, 67k for a new cobra DAFUQ!!!

do you think a day will come where only the 1% will be able to buy a new mustang v6? how does ford make so much money if most people buy used cars? parts? how do people afford new cars in the first place?? :S

Not near the limit but I dont think we'll ever reach that limit. We will switch over to another type of power source before we exhaust the inventiveness of the internal combustion engine.

Keep in mind Mustangs are marketed to baby boomer generation. In general that's people over the age of 55 and being over that age they generally make the most amount of money. If Mustangs were marketed towards.....oh, IDK, teenagers or people in their 20s, then they'd have to retail for $10,000 to $15,000 new for them to "maybe" be able to afford one. Now think very hard, what type of car does $15,000 new buy you.....well....

or maybe this load of sex

Yeah I think given the options, even though the Mustangs are a bit over priced, I'd rather pay $30,000 for this instead.

Or worst case scenario pay $18,000 for one of these.....even it's slogan says it all!!!

As far as reaching the "peak potential of an internal cumbustion engine" then the answer is no. Due to the drastic increases in technology over the last 10-15 years engines have went from being slow and economical to fast powerhouse that "sip" gas better than any car before with the same power. This is honestly only the begining of the technology and performance boom in the auto industry.

I think tire technology will be more of a limiting factor to vehicle speeds in the future than engine tech. As in I think we are very far away from the power versus fuel consumption max of the engine versus the tires ability to put that power to the ground for speed.

I forsee a lot of electric motor helping the fuel burners in the near future. Aerodynamics, power to weight improvements (due to better metals, stronger cars with less weight) and traction will all have to step up as well.
