Default Trunk opening behavior?

Just bought an '03 v6 convertible, and we're enjoying it a lot! I'm going through and fixing some small annoyances, and I came across a (stupid) question on the trunk.

After pressing the trunk release (either on the remote or the button in the glove box), or using the key in the lock, the lid unlocks, but does not open, it just sits there.

Is that normal? Or is it supposed to actually open after popping the release? The struts do keep the lid open. I would assume that if the struts are shot, the lid would not stay open.

I think it opened on my '06, and I know it opens on my '66, so it seems like it may be broken, but I'm looking for confirmation. I don't want to spend $50-75 on struts if this is the normal behavior.

Thanks!

joe

Default

You have to manually open the trunks on these cars. The struts are only there to keep the trunk open once you fully open it.
