Default Sixxer rebuild

I figured I would share my sixxer rebuild with all of you.
I got my right side tires in wet grass going around a left hand turn and ended up taking a concrete light pole down with the right rear of my car.

Got it home and started pulling bent metal off to see how bad she actually was as initially it didnt look too bad. Found out once the interior was out the trunk pan was wrinked due to the wheel well being pushed in. Once I saw that it was gonna need alot of new metal I started looking for parts cars with good rear clips when I happened upon an entire rear clip for $300, but it was in GA, Cost me $200 in gas to go get it and its all the metal I need.

Once the rear clip was home and in the garage I completly disassymbled it by drilling out the factory spot welds.

then I set out on pulling mine apart

And then putting it all back together.

This is just with the panels clamped inplace to make sure everything was straight when replace the fram and trunk pan.

Hopefully it wont be much longer until its back on the road.

Technically it would be a factory paintjob too.

most people would have but I plan on picking up a '68 fastback in the future and dont want to spend a bunch of money tracking down parts just to realize Im in over my head, with this I have a total of $1200 invested in it and that is for everything I need including a harness bar and 2 5pt harnesses. I could easily sell everything off and reclaim 95% of my money spent, plus I gain the knowledge what a resto would entail.

Good lord that's a lot of work. Props. Looking good, so I'm guessing you just had liability then? Or are you stuck with a salvage title?

Clean and clear title. Insurance was never informed of the damage to the car. Only hit that will show up on a carfax is a repaint, but that is a mute point as the car will never be for sale.

It's got to be satisfying fixing it rather than parting with it. If it were me, it'd feel even more like my car after I put that effort in to save her. If I could do that work. Which I can't.

In the end she will truly be "built" not bought.

Got the Quarter panel welded in today. Next will be the filler panels in the rear then start removing the d/s quarter for replacement.
