New Users + Recently Bought A Used Mustang
Mileage: 183, 847 + Automatic
Greetings! I just purchased my first Mustang on Tuesday. It is a 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe Base V6 3.8. I believe I got a pretty good price on it at around $2300.00 out the door. All the electronics on the interior work, it shifts great and the engine is quiet except for 30-45 seconds on startup (still looking into this). Other than that I am quite pleased with my purchase however.
I had to drop about $3,000 on it in repairs to make it right. It being a used vehicle and being in the used car business myself; I knew it would probably have some leaks and some steering/suspension issues.
The issues that I am getting fixed are:
Oil Pan Gasket, Oil Filter Adapter Gasket, Front Crank Seal, Heater Hoses (Supply/Return), Front Wheel Bearings (Both), Front Inner/Outer Tie Rods (Both), Front Struts (Both) and numerous other small things that were wrong mechanically with it.
I plan on doing Motor Mounts (All 3), Rear Struts (Both), Rear Wheel Bearings (Both), tune up, filters etc; all over the next 6-12 months.
I already knew going into it I would pay some money for the previous owner's lack of maintenance but I didn't want any other car but this one. No rust since it's a Florida born and raised vehicle (not near the beach).
Hopefully when all is said and done, this will last me 10-15 years. I already anticipate a reman enginer/reman transmission happening in the future and I've budgeted for it.
Other than that I'll leave some images below of it. All my life I've wanted a Mustang and now I own one. Even if it's not a GT/Cobra/V8. I'll be happy with my little V6... for now. ;-)

Thanks for the welcome So an update. It didn't need lower ball joints on either side of the front. I guess the previous owner had just replaced them. And it wasn't my oil pan gasket leaking it was the oil pump gasket and oil filter adapter gasket. As of now she no longer has any leaks. I get a slight vibration around 30-45 mph in the whole car so I am trying to now narrow that down without throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it.
I am so happy with my purchase even if I had to invest some repair money into it. I am envious of others on this forum that have v8 GT/Cobras but I know I made the right decision to buy this vehicle. This forum is an amazing source of information for upcoming issues I should watch for. Thanks again DRAGUL!
