Default What to do With My 2000 Mustang 3.8L

So i have been looking for a mustang that i can work on for a while now. The other day i was walking down the street and saw one for sale

Long story short:
Has Gt badges and a dual exhaust so i was tricked at first.
117 K miles on the orig engine and tranny
I paid $400 for it. It needs engine work

My goal was to find a 4.6 manual and i ended up with a 3.8 auto. LOL

So that leads me to my question:
What can i do with my slow 3.8 mustang?
Are there any engines that are lug and play?

I have done research on 3.8 to 4.6 engine swaps but that wouldn't be a plug and play. I would have to swap out some electrical components. as well as change the rear end.

Open to all ideas! anything helps

What happened now? I'm still a little unclear...

Did the seller fool you into buying what you thought was a V8 model? I'm pretty sure that's called misrepresentation, and is illegal in many states.

Or did you give up looking for your ideal pony, settling instead for a V6?

no i clarified that with the seller before i bought it.

I wouldn't say gave up, just kinda settled. it was a hell of a deal so if anything i can just flip it.

however i would like to have a mustang i can work on and this is just that only its a V6

Im just trying to figure out the most logical way to increase hp. an engine swap seems pointless. To have a stock gt in a v6 shell after spending anywhere from 1k - 6k when all is said and done

Ok cool. $400 is certainly a nice price, even for a V6.

What kind of engine work does it need?

As of right now... It's gonna need a new serpentine belt, water pump and front ball joints

drive it, enjoy it, learn on it.
Then fix it up a little and trade it for a 4.6

You can always drop 5-7k for turbo/supercharger for a V6

Get it running, clean it up, sell it for a profit and buy a V-8 Mustang.
