I use some Meguiars spray, blast my rims with water, and use a towel to get the rest. I'll probably switch to the gel as I'd really hate the spray. Doesn't seem to get enough grime/brake dust off so I always end up using my towel.

And I wash my tires last! I recommend that when you wash your car, you go from the top down. If you start on the bottom and go up using the same sponge you'll grab all the abrasive rocks/dust with the towel and wipe the top of the car with it! If you're using another towel/sponge, then more power to you.

I never, ever start at the bottom and wash upward. I start at the top and work my way down. I open everything up and wipe out door jams, hood, trunk, etc. I have a beagle who I love to death but when she is in the car..I of course get dog hair and that just drives me nuts but she is just too cute to get mad at. I get the shop vac out and also a lint roller and clean all of it out.

I just can't stand to have a dirty car.

Good good. Someone mentioned washing his wheels first.. yeek! Then again, he might be alternating between different towels.

Im not sure what to tell you on the Rims, but as for the tires spray armorall on them and wipe it down with a rag. It gives you that nice just off the lot look.

As for cleaning cars, I spent like two hours cleaning mine up really good on sat and of course it rains two day later, but that is just how it goes.

Only two hours?! That's a speed wash to me.. suds, dry, some polish and some wax. Could take me up to 6 hours for a killer wet finish, and to armorall and vacuum the interior.

Another vote for Simple Green, works great. Any aspect of washing my car is a labor of love, but then again I'm in San Diego so I usually do mine and it's 70 degrees or hotter.
