Default confused about the c&l??

i got a question. everyone says to go with a intake that requires a tune, but the c&l says it doesnt require a reflash??? im confused because i ordered the bbk which is identical to every spec, looks identical but is 120 less and it says it doesnt require a tune either.... so why does everyone say c&l is the best? does anyone have experience with the bbk?

Until I see some back-to-back dynos, I'm going to stick with my suspicion that the reason the C&L "requires a tune" is because it has an oversized MAF housing, which throws the MAF signal off and must be compensated for. I could be wrong, though.

Since Justin at VMP found there's not even any real restriction in the stock rubber hose, I just don't see how a bigger CAI pipe could make any real difference...

The CAI's that do not require a tune, but also can be installed with a Xcal2 (or Dialblo) and custom tune to get the maximum HP gain, will probably have some sort of flow restrictor in the standard tube that lets the intake work without a custom tune.

It gets removed to get the full benefit of the intake when you install a custom tune.

I wouldn't bother with an intake and no tune. Trust us on this, an intake and tune is one of the best mods you can do to these cars. Really wakes them up.

i think C&L says you don't need a tune because in reality you don't need one. if you have a CAI that has a bigger housing than stock, the car will still run. it will run VERY lean, but it will run. it probably won't be too good for the engine though. the tune allows for the right air/fuel ratio to get maximum HP and to increase longevity on the engine.

this is all stuff i've learned from asking others the same question. if you already ordered than you already ordered. not much you can do. but i've got my eyes set on the C&L and tune from brenspeed
