did you have to replace the stock speakers? I was told that they need to go cause the ohms are different than the new unit? Any other changes from stock for the install? How much for all??

Congrats! My D3 will be here on Thursday. I ordered the Crutchfield Shaker 500 wiring harness which is supposed to be plug and play. Can't wait to get mine!

PPerin: No, i kept the stock speakers for the time being. You are right on a difference,
but its for the woofers in the door. Most factory Ford stereos only send a 5 volt turn on signal to the sub amp.
When an aftermarket stereo is installed, there may be a turn on/off pop from the subwoofer.
All aftermarket radios have 12 volt remote outputs.
To avoid the pop, you will need to add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator in line on the remote lead.
This item can be purchased at any Radio Shack, the part number is 276-1770. it cost me a whoping $1.49

UMTerp2010: it cost me 1255, shipped with wiring harness, XM sat radio & NavTraffic module and iPod cable.
i did the install myself.

Razorbackfan: if you're doing the install by yourself, i recommend getting a wire cutter/stripper plus a bunch of wire butt connectors, and a multimeter never hurts.
