engine light

Default engine light

i built my own cold air intake and put on my v6 it runs good but when i get on it the engine light comes on and when i reset the computer it goes off any ideals?

Without checking a code, it's likely that you are running lean from the new intake without retuning the computer.

will it hurt to run it like that are do i need to wait for a programmer it did pop in the exsaust once?

yes it will hurt it, never make your own cai, just spend the money to get one premade, and yes get a tuner, if its throwing codes, then obviously its a sign somethings wrong.

lol!! Man can you take a pic of your Homemade CAI. I would love to see what contraption you conjured up. I keep picturing this cardboard duct taped together lol.

well i dont have a camre but just a couple of pieces of thin pvc pipe with some heat resistent paint and a cone filter and there you have it looks like an origanle.i had the code run on it and sure enough its running to lean but they said it wouldnt hurt just suck more gas.

LOL! thats exactly what i was lol'ing about, i was thinking of pvc with assloads of electrical tape and a V-TAK sticker , LOL!

Running lean means that there is NOT enough fuel in the air/fuel mixture.
I dont know where "they" get their information, but its wrong. Lean will
KILL your engine and make it run HOT HOT HOT.
