Default virginia laws on muffler and noise violations

well i have a friend with 2000 civic and got pulled over for aftermarket muffler and for how loud it was.
my mustang is by far louder and i have no problem with cops and my exhaust. she has to go to court over it for a noise violation. her car is not that loud! its crazy. i cant find any laws sayin about this. im sure there are but any info is wanted and appriciated. she has a fee and a summons for this. i think its crazy.
thanks guys

Maybe it was a city ordinance. What city does she live in?

There may or may not be a specific law related to this on the books in VA or the town involved (but I'd tend to bet there is)

Cops can always fall back to the vague charges that are available such as "creating a public nuisance" to cover items such as this.

When I visit my father, (he lives in Fredericksburg) he is amazed by the fact I dont get ticketed for my set up. (hes an uptight luwyer thats never gotten a ticket for anything) From what I understand, VA is really strict on inspections, noise, emissions, etc.

Virginia cops are not Yankees, they are NAZZI'S!
When you enter the State, after you see the blue Welcome To Virginia, you then see a big BLACK sign that says, RADAR DETECTORS ILLEGAL.
It might as well just tell the truth,,,it should say "EVERYTHING IS ILLEGAL!"
Friggin commy ars PIG STATE!
If there is going to be an actual Police State, the first one will surely be VIRGINIA!
The burocracy here has recently voted to tack on an additional HUGE fine for those caught speeding on our highways. You not only get hit with local fines, points, jail time etc., you now have to also suffer getting RAPED by the State!
I think automatic reckless driving for 20 MPH over the speed limit should be abolished and so should the current administration! IMPEACH AND FIRE THEM ALL I SAY!
The traffic system is REVENUE oriented and that is why there are so many rediculous laws on the books.
They have even legislated away defendants legal avenues for defense against this MONSTER system they LAUGHINGLY call Justice!
Give me a break!

I hope the pig that gave her a ticket for such a stupid violation runs into a brick wall with is piece of crap Crown Vic and ,,,well,,,you get the point!
ArsHoles! I hate Virginia sometimes! I always hate the system, that's for sure. GET FRIGGIN REAL!

My 20 cents!

oink oink , piggy piggy! hey, why aren't there any pig emoticons on here?

I'm "from where"? You gotta be kiddin me!
I see the good side of Va. too just like anyone else.
But if a cop pulls me over just to chew the fat, I'll not be very nice to him and I will tell him where he can shove that cop car, then go on about my business.
Profiling is aganist the LAW and they don't follow it!
I mean give me a break.

Umm...nope....I'm a G.R.I.T.S. for sure! Girl Raised In The South.

The Mason Dixon Line runs between Maryland and PA....so VA is a southern state.
