Explorer Express advertises around 280 RWHP using the 2.8 pulley .... Unless you install the Meth/Water cooling kit it probably isn't the best for racing since it's pretty high PSI (11+) and not intercooled. I'm going to put one on my car with the 2.8 pulley and will try to keep it under 5500 RPM as much as possible .. it's a daily driver for me .. not a race car.

nirtrous, $1k, save the money and buy something worth while, spending 6k to make a car have 300hp and run low 13's at best, in my opinion, is awaste of money.

300rwhp and stock internals would be an intercooled turbo at like 8psi, but that will run around $6k total(dyno, install, turbo w/intercooler). The other way would be an intercooled hi-po vortech which will be $4k~ for the kit if you don't have a tuner, if you do it will run $3.7k the tuner kit+injectors, install expect $600-$850, dyno tune $200-$350, and your gonna need a higher psi pulley, if your a manual and have at least a hi-flow muffler, I think a 9psi pulley will do it, if your an auto w/a hi-flow muffler a 12psi should do it(300rwhp+). Thepulley's are$80 and get them installedat the dyno shop. I here that if you running 10psi or higher you should get shimmed valves or something like that. That will run $300-$350 and the mechaniccan install it. Talk to powerhouse411 for info on them. Pulley you have to google the site. superchargeronline.com has the h/o vortech kits.
an intercooled turbo at 8psi will make a hell of a lot more than 300rwhp. closer to 350-360rwhp and about 380rwtq. at 9psi i made 371/402.

with that being said, a turbo is out of your price range, especially if u cant install it yourself.

nitrous wont get you 300rwhp. and 6k will get you more than 300hp.im sittin over 400rwhp with my turbo setup.

Well said. Also the GT guys paid about 6k more for 300 hp (only at crank) and I don't think they feel they wasted their money either. For me,turbo does seem the way to go since you could run lower boost (less stress on the engine) and achieve similiar numbers. Or......you could shoot high and really put out some good numbers. But hey,I'm sure a supercharger wouldbe pretty awesome as well! To each his own.

Ok Black Mamba GTT
I need the recipe for success...
[ul][*]vortech hi-po [*]4.10 gears[*]tuner[*]slip differential
[/ul]
Is that all? (im unfamiliar with F/I thanks for your help so far) Will that get me a well performing car for the strip?

P.S.My car is stock performance wise except for magnaflows.
That's a great start! But if you have spare money, higher psi pulley-$80,get a zabteck throttle body-$300 should get you 10rwhp, drag radials for traction(range in costs), rear lower control arms for wheel hop/traction-$200 installed, and longtube or shorty headers depending on your state laws($400-$750 installed and should net really nice gains). Don't forget youshould get a dyno tune-$200-$350.Good Luck!

My bad! I meant the non-intercooled turbo should pass 300rwhp on an auto at 8psi. thanks for the correction!

So, here's what im thinkin
[ul][*] Turbo (non intercooled, only $4k)more in my price range[*] T-lok ($200)[*] Tuner ($400)[*] Dyno it (????)[/ul] How much do dynos usually run and what numbers will the set up above give me?

Well you will need a dyno tune...not just a dyno pull. Dyno tunes vary by the place. Some places charge like $400 flat rate, others charge by the hour.

You will have to find shops in your area and call around. Make sure you get references as to how good the shop is also.

+1 on banka, dyno tunes range from usually a $200-$400 flat fee to $50-$100/hr. With a non-intercooled turbo, I believe you'll hit over 300rwhp on 8psi. 9psi, most people believe to be the safe limit for non-intecooled force induction set-ups. 9psi should put you in the 320's rwhp range ifyour an auto.Manuals willsee higher #'s of course. Not sure install costs for a turbo, butI here they are higher than superchargers so a goodrange would be $750-$1,200. Intercooled vortech's are around $3.9k(including tuner), so it's up to you to decide intercooled supercharger or non-icturbocharger(probably a good $500-$700 more). I think the turbo will make a little more rwtorque, but the hp #'s will be near identical on both.Good Luck!
