Default Swapping in 4.6?

Has anyone ever heard of a 4.0 to 4.6 swap? Would something like that be worth all the work/money? Just pondering with fantasies....

yes you could do a 4.6 three valve 5.4 three valve or a 5.4 four valve.there's about 6 guys i know that are doing swaps this winter including myself. i'm doing a 4.6 three valve with a cast iron block with some sort of forced induction. i still have my 4.0 for sale with 1200 miles.

i think that is the way to go insted of going FI with the sixer. the sixer does haul with fi but not like a V8, just way more potential and plus it sounds way better too. haha

this fourm never changes

base intercooled procharger, vortech, and paxton kits make more power than the gt

i would say F the swap and go FI or just TRADE IT IN

4.0 for life (cobra would be nice though)

Factoring in a new motor, trans, driveshaft, rear end, and all the wireing hardware and suspension upgrades

about 20,000 bucks more than just buying a vortech for your 6. This however does not factor in installation which most of the people who ask this question would never be able to do in their garage with their 24 piece ratchet set.

With everything including motor, wiring harness, trans rear end, and MISC including air conditioning and a few more big things over $10K is what I've heard. It isn't cheap YET!

I think I read a post on the "other" forum regarding someone trying this. He has the motor and tranny ready to go. Way beyond my capacity of technical skill but well worth watching.

If you shop around, you can do it for 5K if its a 4.6 stock block with tranny (used 5r55 or manual) and labor, maybe a little more. And 10k for a 3v 5.4 with a 4r70 if you cut some corners. I did a lot of research on this.
