Default BBK CAI

Last week I bought a BBK CAI. I installed same day and was satisfied with it. They claim it does not require a tune. Last night I am on they way to my cousins B day party, when I notice the service engine light on. So i have been bitten by the bug you must have a tuner. Even though BBK claims you do not need a tune they are not telling the truth. I am going to put on there special note from there instructions.

SPECIAL NOTE
Due to the increased airflow and performance gains associated with this product, a slight detonation or lean condition may occur if used with low octane fuels (Regular).
If this happens we recommned switching to a fuel with a higher octane rating
(Premium, or Super).
In addition , if you are installing this product on a vehicle that has been previously
modified or has a "tune" other than stock, you may find it necessary to have the tune
adjusted or modified to accomdate for the increase in airflow that this product provides.

Just wanted to let you guys know that you were right. I posted this in the main forum.

Cam not going to say the I told you so thing....
There has been alot of trial and error in working on these cars and lots of people have been down your road. Now you need to buy a tune and that will not be a disappointment!

It will be worth it and I'm just glad nothing happened to the car. You can probably find a used one for $200 and all you have to do is get a tune emailed to you.
Good luck

were you originally using 87? so is BBK saying that a step up to 89 will possibly correct the check engine light?

Good for you, you'll then have show and go. Oh and BTW the tuner will clear codes for you....
