Your older brother could be better on the shifting than you... when you said "it seems to keep up with my CAI/tuned pony" were YOU driving it?....or messing around and racing with your brother a little? Which ones are manuals and automatics? Where is your tune from?
x2 I was about to say that. Specifically which ones are manuals & automatics.

I have a 2007, there are minor differences. No heated throttle body (easy fix on the 2005).Clips on theu-joints (the 2005 driveshaft is unsafe at speed - I replaced mine with an aluminum one). The transmission tunnel was stiffened for the GT500 which applies to all 2007+ mustangs. The computer tune is slightly different. Ford periodically updates it,they can proabably reflash yours but you may want to have it professionally tuned particularly to take full advantage of your CAI.

I have to agree with the factory freak theory. I built my pony on the ford website and did a dealer search for it. My dealer had 3 with all my options. one was clearly faster off the line than the other two. All 3 automatics, but only 1could spin the tire by just flooring it.
That one is in my garage.

edit: and I drove them all with the traction control turned off.

The 3.55 is not an option on the V6. The V6 has a completely different differential housing than the GT. All V6's have 3.31 gears and a 7.5" housing.
Green ones come with 3.73
