2005? 2007? Difference?
Alright. So, let me put it out there. I'm in a mustang family.
Oldest Brother - 2007 V6 Red Mustang
His Wife - 2006 V6 Black Mustang
Me - 2005 V6 Black Mustang
Best Friend - 2007 V6 Blue Mustang
Story: Before I got my mustang, I used to drive a 1989 Toyota Camry. During that time, my best friend got his S197 before any of us. I thought it kicked ***. Had great power, response, kick, etc. A year later I got my mustang, which had even more power and kick behind the wheel. I figured it was the dual exhaust that came with it while my best friend's S197 didn't. Then two weeks after I got mine, my oldest brother got his red mustang. And his wife had gotten one sometime in between.
Anyhow, after driving my car for a long while, putting on the appearances I wanted. Then eventually putting in a CAI. I noticed my mustang was significantly more powerful than my best friend's stock. When I drove his mustang, it seemed weak and pathetic compared to mine, despite the few minor adjustments I made performance wise.
Then I actually got to drive my oldest brother's mustang. It's stock. But for some reason, it hauls ***. It gets 0-60 faster than my best friend's stock S197, and seems to keep up even with mine. They both have 17" rimswhile I have 16" rims. Also, his engine is louder than my best friend's.
My question is, did the engine change between 05 and 07 models? Can anyone explain why my brother's 07 seems faster than my friend's 07? And why my brother's 07 keeps up with my modified 05' V6?

RE: 2005? 2007? Difference?
In 2005, the 4.0L came with a heated throttle body. In 2006, they stopped that configuration. An '05 can pick up some performance benefit by doing a TB coolant by-pass. That doesn't answer your question exactly, but it is a difference between the different year 4.0L's.
I will say that the factory assembly-line gods have certainly blessed some cars more then the one assembled next to it. The term used is "factory freak". Drivetrain components pass QC by being within a certain range of tolerances. Some combinations work together better than others. There is no rhyme or reason. fitbikeco runs 14.4's peg-leg withjust a tune, intake, and a few odds & ends. His car is INSANELY quick for what has been done to it! Some cars are the opposite, and appear to have been cursed bythe assembly-line gods.

Well.... CAI and some exhaust isn't going to get you to beat a GT.
And no the engine did not change between the 05-07 models, BUUUUT...
the stock gears did change.

3.55's became an option. I wish I could remember which year they became and option but I believe it was 07.
I believe the 06's were 3.55 stock and then they moved it to optional.

I was thinking he was asking a difference between the GT's also.
I realize there is no option for the V6 on that
But it did become an option for the GT's.
As for the same year model... factory freak differences perhaps.
