RE: car sponsorships?
My experience with small-time sponsorships was that I could trade space on my race cars (which I also drove on the street) for a genuine discount on parts I actually needed. Big-time sponsorships involve real sponsors paying for parts, services, publicity, travel ...
You always have to ask yourself, "Where do the people who offer 'sponsorship' get their income?" Real sponsors get their money from selling real products at full price, the more the merrier. Businesses who charge for "sponsorship" and are not self-supporting without some kind of enrolment or membership fees are probably getting ready to move on to another career. Maybe not. P.T. Barnum had something to say about the kind of business they are in today.
This case may be legit, but I bet it's more likely a method for manufacturers to unload excess inventory, items that didn't find a demand, and just plain bad ideas; kind of a flea market with a $90 admission charge.

I have a friend who fell for this trip...like I said it is a SCAM, period.
He got "accepted" into the program and basically just got 40% discounts on stuff that had nothing to do with mustangs.

I'm not crazy. I have a certificate that says so. Nya nya.
You're a semi-literate axehole. How do you like that, "big"? Do I sense a little overcompensation there? OK. A semi-literate BIG axehole. Or a BIG semi-literate axehole. Take your pick. You do get credit for the "e" in you're, though.
When you say "over", do you mean "more than"? Just a guess.
Two grand. Is that two large? Large what? If you meant $2,000 US, maybe there was that much value, to someone. Item by item, what was the "stuff", and how much each item?
If you weren't talking to me, I take it all back.
Heh.
