Well depending on how quick you can save up for your CAI/Tune, I ran with my 3.73's for a week or two before I got my CAI/Tune. Your speedo will be off a little.

Keep in mind if you get the CAI/tune you have to give them your mods list so they can customize your tune. That is why I suggested doing it all at once. You can price around gear install, you may be able to get it a little cheaper.

It takes about 10 minutes, and saves you around 20 to 30 bucks, maybe even more depending on where you get it from.
Does this affect your radio reception and if so how badly?

Any decent tuner will update his tunes for free. It's really not that hard to update the tune for gears with the x-cal anyway.

if you cut the antenna, do you have to put the ball back on top? or can you just leave it off?

what should i be expecting as far as install prices for the gears or can a VERY newbie weekend mechanic (myself) do the job?

i really dont think it would look that bad, you might need to get the black floor mats to make it seem like it was meant to be that stock (my main goal)
The mats I plan on getting are black anyways. I've seen a few grey leather seat covers come up on eBay recently.

Cutting the antenna does not affect the reception within reason. Just dont cut it down to like 3 inces and expect same quality. I cut mine to 14 inches and I cant tell the differance. The black ball is also not necessary. I attacked it with krazy glue but on a really hot day while cleaning I accedently knocked it off. Recption went unchanged except I just gotta be carefull that I dont poke out an eye.
