Default need help - need to install wheel stop

Hi guys, just posted a new thread last night on some new stuff I installed, but had to take off some very nice new wheels and tires I installed because the inside lip of the front rims rubbed the back side of my BMR tubular A-arms resulting in a "shaving" of metal off the inside lip of both front rims. Oh Sh**! The rims are only 8 1/2 inches wide which didn't seem excessive to me. Can anyone help me out with what to do? Does Ford sell steering stops that prevent turning the wheels too far so the rims won't rub the A-arms? Thanks, Jack

Default update on wide rims & BMR tubular A-arms

I was at my favorite Sarasota Ford dealership today ordering some parts and asked Ed, guy behind the counter that gives me nice discounts, if Ford makes a wheel stop to keep from turning the steering to far so one doesn't damage wide rims. Answer, NO! He checked with his aftermarket specialist and apparently there's no suck thing. They concluded that the rim's back spacing must be wrong, but Maxxim, the wheel manufacturer, stands by its claim that my specific wheels were designed by Konig to specifically fit late model Mustangs. So, now what? I'll call BMR in Zypherhills, FL, near Tampa, and see if they received any other phone calls from Mustang owners experiencing the same problems. I'll let you guys know. As I stated in earlier emails, the BMR A-arm has a gusset along the back side of both front A-arms for strength. This gusset is where my rims rubbed. Possibly the design of this gusset on the A-arms did not take certain wheel back spacing into consideration when they were designed the A-arm. Not their fault, just this A-arm design in combination with my specific Maxxim wheel. After I put my stock rims back on, no problem. So any 7 inch wide rim is ok with these A-arms. Damn, those Maxxim wheels and BFG gForce KDWs really made the car look great. I'll get it solved though. Take care, Jack.

Answer YES.
Ed does not know his stuff.
To the OP, is that a standard V6, non PonyPackage by chance?
I need to know the backspacing/offset and rim diameter to tell you
the proper Ford steering stops you need.

Note: For vehicles with 16" wheels from the factory:
-installing 17" x 8" wheels, use steering stop 4R3Z-3932-BA
-Installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA
For vehicles with 17" wheels from the factory:
-installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA
And they are also available aftermarket from mustangsunlimited and
californiamustangs.
So Ed was wrong on both accounts.
