Default Ford Racing " Cold Air Intake" w/tune not from Ford

Anyone have a setup like this. Buddy of mine is selling his v6 mustang after our deployment and is giving me his ford racing cold air intake. Its free so no way i'll pass it up but i anm wondering if anyone has a tune for these outside the "mild" tune ford racing provides for them. Curious to know if this would be comparable to a C&L intake w/tune setup.

Best bet would be to take it into a speed shop and let them dyno tune it.

From what I heard from a few different people the ford racing intake wont gain as much as a C&L will but it will get close to the same gains.

That's with the included Ford Racing Tune. It's a 91 octane tune. I'm sure if it's tweaked to it's maximum potential with 93 on a dyno, it'll be better. I've got both intakes. If Doug had tunes for the FR CAI, it would probably perform close to it. I'm willing to bet the C&L flows better.

+1.... although the gain may be more from a C&L, it won't be very noticeable. i went from an AEM (with S&B filter) to the C&L and the difference was there but minimal. since the FRPP intake is free, get a custom tune for that thing and enjoy it. you won't be missing out. good luck!
