PYPES X-PIPE XFM44
Well I got my GT body parts painted and on. Now on to the exhaust. I have two gt take off mufflers, a new Ford mustang gt dr side pipe and clamp. Got on line this moring to order the PYPES X-PIPE and it's out of stock. Anyone know of a place that might have one? I have the stock h-pipe off my gt but don't want to hack it up. Any help would be great. thanks

There are other alternatives to the Pypes brands. I know
their price is right. If you have to wait a few, do it, and
the job will be done the right way unless you know someone
with a tube bender and great fab skills.

Pypes X
I just installed Pypes headers yesterday and they went on just fine.
Today I installed GT takeoff mufflers, mid-pipes, and a Pypes X pipe.
I think that the mounting hangers on the X pipe are too short. There was no way that I could slide the X back far enough to butt the X and mid-pipes together and still have the X hangers in the mounts. I slid the mufflers as far forward as possible, to the point that the front hanger was just barely in the rubber mount and I still could not get them to butt up. The gap was about 1 1/2". Nicely made piece otherwise. I just connected the X and mid-pipes with the gap using the stock clamps and will hope for the best.
Oh yes, remember to tap the left muffler mounting holes. Mine had no threads in them. Use an 8mm 1.25 thread tap. The holes are drill the proper size for tapping.

Just got the exhaust completed. I used a MAC GT O/R x-pipe. I forgot I had it lying out in the shed. Anyway welded some 2.5 to 2.25 adapters in. Worked great. The hangers were in the right spot. I did not have to add anything to them. I used oe style self tapping bolts on the dr side muffler brackets. So I have less than $200.00 in the set up. I used take off gt mufflers (off my GT), pypes muffler hangers on the dr side ($50.00), oe ford mid pipe ($105.00), and one oe ford band clamp for the dr side ($30.00). Granted had I had to buy the mufflers and x-pipe it would be closer to $350-400.00. I am pretty happy. Filled the hole in the bumper that was my biggest concern. Doesn’t sound too bad at low RPM.
Done with the mods for now. Maybe some stripes and CAI this spring. Time to get back on the GT.
