what is the recommended tire pressure on a 06 PonyPackage?
Hi there,
I just bought a set of 17' bullit wheels for my 06 which originally came with 16' wheels.
Can anyone tell me the recommended tire pressure for those 17' ? (should be written on a sticker by the driver's door sill).
Thank you

45? No way bro!
Door sticker on the Pony's reads 32 psi. I found 34 psi was perfect, quieted the car down a hair and added a mpg. Grip was still excellent in all weather.

I installed the same 17 inch GT wheels w/stock GT 235x55 Pirellis on my 05 V6 and I use the same recommened 35 psi as the stock 215x65x16 BFGs. Its been 2 years now and the tire wear is just fine and the car rides & handles great. 45 psi--- NO WAY!!!

Here's a question, what's the sidewall of the tire say the MAX pressure is? If MAX is 44psi then you want 36-37 PSI, 32 is WAY too low and you will wear out the tire faster and under high heat may end up getting a blow out from excessive heat build up of an UNDERinflated tire.
I found that most manufacturers base that 32 PSI off of a 35 MAX PSI tire which typically happens to be the most basic, low end tire, offered on the car. In this case the 16's.
You guys probably aren't old enough to remember the whole Firestone/Bridgestone tire blow outs on the Explorers. Turns out Ford was saying 30psi on the tire that was meant for 35-37 (MAX 44) thus weakening the tire.

Then why are you a postin?
Plackard on the drives side door jamb.

The MAX pressure on the sidewall is for the MAX load for the given tire.
The S197s dont come even close to MAX load per tire.
You can do the math and figure out the proper inflation
pressure from the MAX ratings. Or go with Fords recommendations.
32 is not WAY too low as Derf states.
