I have no problem in snow with weight in the back and the manual tranny.

Search some threads for water intrusion issues, coming in on the passenger side. You would likely be able to notice dampness or even water damage / mold smell if you feel the carpets on that side. I did not have this issue, but many have, there is a TSB fix I think.

I have 112K on my '05 daily driver with only one trip back to dealer for a frozen parking brake.

I definitely do not want a MUSTY MUSTANG!! I will check the specific car I will test drive. It might rain today here, it may be a good time to go look at the car. Seems there MAY BE a lot of other pesky issues too.. but then again there are on every car.

For comparison I looked up a supposedly incredibly reliable 2007 Subaru Impreza and there were no recalls on the ODI site, but there was one TSB:

Some look very minor, some more problematic. I looked up a Chevy Impala and it was longer than my arm on the ODI site.. I guess that water leaking problem is a big one to look out for.

Default 07 mustang pony pack

first off thank you for posting the recall list, i have a few things to mention to my technichian next oil change now lol..

I too have had some of the problems posted here, I also have 2007 v6.. Some of my problems include the noise when just idling with the clutch disengaged and it goes away when you put the clutch in. I mentioned it to ford and all they did was print this thing off the computer from ford saying that it is normal for the noise to be there and to only fix it if it becomes real loud or something like that.

I have the clunky shift from 1st to 2nd or when putting into reverse as well, annoying.

i never really thought too much of the noise when hitting speed bumps and what not, its been there for a while and i see other people are getting this as well..

As far as winter driving for you, i live in Ontario and i got my car in september and drove it in the winter with the standard tires which i think were summer.. I ended up putting like 250lbs of salt in the back, it did help and made me feel better in the snow but snow tires are real good idea for this car. Even with the salt it can be hard to go through some snow even if only a few inchs sometimes. Had same problem with my 95, put yokohama winters on and felt so much better. But as long as you are ok with doing really low shifts just the salt will be fine, spins out real easy when roads wet

listen for squeaks in the breaks too. I try not to be too hard on my car with the brakes and burn outs (partly cuz our cops are strict here for speeding and crap like that) but my brakes started to to make noise and when they checked the rear pads were worn and one was cracked. Of course my bumper to bumper just ran out like 3000km before that. Within the last couple weeks i've hear it again a few times, so whether this time its the front or they messed up on the back i dont know yet, havent had time to investigate

They do all right in the snow, but don't expect to be carving up a mountain road like you would in a Porsche, or even a Nissan. For that, you'd really be better off with something that has independent rear suspension.

Also, I have an '07 V6, and I like it, but if it were my first Ford, I would never buy another one again. The sound the transmission makes in neutral is very off-putting, and I've never been in a car that had even half as many interior rattles as this one. Most of the rattles were easily remedied, but you should know they're an issue, just in case that's a big problem for you. Mechanically though, I'd say this car is sound and fun to drive. It's just the little things that will drive you nuts.

Don't let the auto push you away from the orange one. My car is an auto and i would say it runs just as well as the stick cars. The trans is the same one that is in the GT so it can hold the little 210 HP V6 just fine. I have 8k on my 09 and I have taken it to the track and beat on it pretty good.

There are a few things to look out for with the stangs. But if you have the recall list just keep your eye out for those things. The water leak is a prominent problem, BUT NOT A PROBLEM FOR ALL. So be sure and check for it. Passenger side footwell there is a panel with a fuse box. It comes through the firewall and you will be able to see it there. Don't be scared of the auto. I drive one and am happy with it. Its stronger than the MT if you decide in the future to give it some more power. I hope you end up in our stang community. They really are great cars.

I had the same noise, the dealership replaced the clutch and pressure plate under warranty. I also had a roaring/whirring noise at low rpm acceleration in 4th gear. My trans is completely quiet now. I'd at least ask your local stealership service guy about it.

I was wondering if there is anything I should really look out for on these cars while test driving it besides all the normal stuff, I mean things specific to this car than might be a common issue, etc.

After looking at a bunch of different types of cars in that price range I think the V6 Mustang is one hell of a bargain for what you get. I can't wait to test drive the thing. They also have an AUTO in orange with 36k miles, but I don't think I want to stick out that much, or drive a sporty RWD car with an AUTO trans.

How is the reliability of these cars in general? If there are some issues, what are they? I have heard about the battery drain issue.. but that's about it so far. I definitely need to do some more research.

Thanks for any advice on this purchase..
great car the Mustang. It looks like nothing else. It's sporty, quick and a blast to drive. If you have to drive everyday, and most of us do, why not drive something that looks as good as the Mustang ? Our 2006 has been very reliable while still getting looks wherever we go. I love the grabber orange color, it would be my first choice but I wanted a manual trans. So we bought a 2006 satin silver w/the pony package. Have never regretted a second of owning it. But yea, the mod bug can get a little expensive, but it's worth it.
