Default Ignition Fuse

Hey guys, hows it going? Been a long time since I've been on here...since I got rid of my 06 GT. But, I've got a buddy who has an 05 v6 and yesterday was the second time his car just died while driving down the road. He coasted to a stop put it in park (didn't know that once its in park it wont come out). But, it has a fuse that keeps blowing when this happens. All the lights work when this happens, it just will not start and will not come out of park. Has anyone else had this problem or know of the cause? Any help would be great!

In the 2005 owners manual it is fuse number 68 in the distribution box under the hood. The manual says its the ignition fuse.

I know it's got many fuses. I worked in parts at a ford dealer for 6 years. I've just never seen an ignition fuse blow and cause the car to no let out of park. I was actually figuring it was a tail light fuse since the tail lights have to engage before you can take the car out of park. He said they had replaced a couple blinkers and I thought maybe a wire got pulled on or something that was shorting out the fuse. But when the owners manual said fuse number 68 under the hood was the ignition fuse and he immediately pointed and said that one in the picture was the one they had replaced I figured that had to be it. I guess I will have him bring me the car so I can look more into it.

Yea, bring it on by here so I can have a look first hand and not third hand....

OK, fuse 68 powers the key ignition SWITCH.
That in turn provides power to several other circuits.
By turning the key to the ACC position, it powers the
climate control and the windshield wiper motor thru F3 in the SJB.
It also powers the electrochromatic mirror thry F7 in the SJB.
In the run positon it powers the following:
insturment cluster thru F16 in the SJB
ABS thru F18 in the SJB
climate control thru F12 in the SJB
A/C clutch cycling switch thru F14 in the SJB
RCM, OCS and hazzards switch thru F17 in the SJB
PATS and the insturment cluster thru F19 in the SJB
I would be looking for a short on the 18 Gage Black/LiteGreen
wire on C1035A at the BEC that goes to the ignition switch
thru the passengers side firewall grommet...
Or maybe the ignition switch is to blame...
A dead short anywhere along that wire from the
BEC under the hood to the Ignition switch could pop
the fuse just drivin down the road....
