Center Console Light for Gear Selection?

Center Console Light for Gear Selection?
Hello,
I am a newbie here and I've searched for the answer to this question for quite a while. When selecting a gear, my 2005 V6 automatic does not feature a light to see the gear (R, N, D, etc.)
Do your Mustang gear selections illuminate? Is this normal that mine does not? I've downloaded the PDF file that tells you how to disassemble the center console but I do not see anything on this forum about a light.
Thanks Guys and Gals! You are a big help!!

I contacted my local parts guy (who has been extremely helpful thus far) and he said that the shifter assembly appears to be just one piece. Is it possible that you can't just replace the bulb?
Surely someone else has had this issue....anybody?
Thanks,

I have an 08 and mine does light up, I don't think the actual gear selector is a bulb rather all of the gears are lit and when you change gears the colored plastic inside changes the color. Are all of your gears dark or just the gear you select?

It lights up to show you the letter but there is no indicator in there. The shift handle is the indicator. I know some cars really go overboard with that. My old Accord used to have an indicator on the letter, and then an indicator letter that would light up on the dash. So if you were stupid enough to not see one you would see the other. This is a Mustang, they assume you are smart enough to know where the shifter goes.
