Default X-Charger break in

Finally getting around to the install tomorrow. Just wondering how long/miles you guys went with your X's before really getting on it. Everyone's told me 350+ miles at lower RPMs.

what does the manufacturer say?

When I did the RoushCharger on my F-150...I only waited long enough to ensure all my fluids were good, the motor was hot...then it was lead foot time.

I put the X-Charger on a started driving it hard right away and now have 80,000 miles on it. Not that it wouldn't be a good idea to go mildly for a few miles.

This is from the installation manual for the Magnuson MP112 (Eaton M112) for their Mustang 4.6 V8 kit minus the intercooler part. This would also apply completely to the X-Charger installation.

"1. Use only premium fuel, 91 octane or higher. Start the vehicle for 5 seconds and shut it off. Check the supercharger installation for fuel leaks and supercharger belt alignment.

2. Test drive the vehicle for the first few miles under normal driving conditions, listen for any noises, vibrations, engine misfire or anything that does not seem normal. The supercharger does have a slight whining noise under boost conditions, which is normal.

3. After the initial test drive gradually work the vehicle to wide open throttle runs, listen for any engine detonation (pinging). Use only premium fuel, 91 octane or better. If engine detonation is present let up on the throttle immediately. Most detonation causes are low octane gasoline still in the tank."

No mention of a break in period.

If by slight whining noise they mean the sound of a screaming banshee trying to rip it's way out of the engine compartment, then yes..... slight whining noise

It is sooooo awesome!

I can't wait until I'm able to get a 'screaming banshee'.

Is there any one of us who didn't get on it a little bit to hear that scream after the install?

Taking out a BMW V12:

And just the scream of the Xcharger itself:

Can't get this one to embed for some reason

Nice clips Jim!

My 'break in" was a three minute post install idle to be sure there were no fuel leaks etc, then it was go time...
