Question cleaning aluminum fuel door

I have some oxidation on my brushed aluminum fuel door. Any ideas on how I can clean it up and get rid of the white deposits that have built up? Would hate to have to go buy a new one.

I would contact the Shark Hide company and ask if their aluminum cleaner would get that off.
If you do end up buying the cleaner, I would suggest taking the cover off just to be sure you don't end up getting it on your paint. Also, get the Protectant too.

Aluminum Mag cleaner.
Samer material, same cleaner.
Have it clear anodized to prevent future corrosion....

I thought most aftermarket fuel doors worth a grain
of salt were clearcoated to prevent corrosion like you describe....

Musta got a cheapola one...

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated! FYI...it's a ford racing fuel door. Maybe I could blame it on the brutal winters here in MI!!!

Doesn't matter the brand.
Salt will get to aluminum quicker (I assume that's what he meant by brutal winters).
I do believe SHR makes them for FRPP, and Marcello doesn't make cheapola stuff.

mercury is the worst on aluminum.
Hence the mercury paste soldiers used
during the war on the German airplanes....

They would fall apart in the air. Hee Heee
Bare aluminum stands up to nothing.
Properly clear anodized or even clearcoated
with the proper stuff should last a while even
in salty air...
Does not NASA have a bunch of space aluminum in FL?

They sure do, and it's a yearly affair to maintain the thin aluminum objects.

A friend of mine has a BMW motorcycle that has never been on the sandy beach that he lives very close by...
All the aluminum on that bike, clearcoated or not, is in sad shape now after 2 years.
Real shame.
