When activated, MyKey also encourages smart driving behavior by muting audio until safety belts are buckled, chiming earlier for low-fuel warnings, and prohibiting the shutoff of key accent-avoidance features such as AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control."

Basically it was designed for parents with teenager drivers but I'm sure rental companies will use it as well. Like 157db said his Mom works for a rental company and she said they do so case closed there.

BTW congrats on actually getting a Mustang from a rental company. A few years back I reserved/paid for a convertible mustang for a trip and when I showed up they "didn't have one" so I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse instead....what a bummer that was.
That MyKey thing sounds pretty cool. Did that just start with the '11's or was it avail for the '10's also?

Seems early for rental car places to have them. There's still some dealers waiting for them. Either way, I'd imagine there is some type of speed governor seeing how it's a rental. Also..Are you sure you're turning off the traction control? I know you said you did but just pressing it doesn't disable it. Hold the break and hold the TC button for about 5 sec until the little car with skid marks stays lit in the instrument cluster.
I've seen the 2011 V6s on rental lots already, so I'm sure he's right about it being a 2011. I was surprised when I saw it too. And, of course the car rental company was charging out the ars to rent it too. It was in the same price category as the Challenger they had sitting on the lot.

First off the 115mph speed limiter is in place by Ford. It is the same on my V6 '11, MyKey is completely different and is an option to limit the max speed to 80mph(I've tried it).

Second, I had no idea about the way to fully turn off the TCS by holding the brake and the button for 5 seconds. Very cool.

and Finally.. congrats on getting a brand new '11 Vert for a rental, very lucky. How much are you paying per day on that?

My understanding (99.9% sure) is it's new for 2011

I know the GT's have sport mode I'm not sure if the 11 v6 does, it very well may. If so add 1 more and I have no idea how to use it lol.

On pg 213 of my v6 Owners guide. It lists a "Sport Mode" for the V6 (if equipped). Not sure if mine has it, but I'll give it a try.

Here's how you enable it. "Button Pressed Twice, Brakes applied."

Hold down the brakes and press the TCS button twice? That's it?

Does it show a Sport mode indicator?

ok just to clarify something i think what was posted about holding the button for 5 seconds to turn everything off is just for the 10s and 11s because i looked at my owners manual and it just says to press the button. i also tried holding down the button for 5 seconds but nothing different happened on my instrument cluster or my readout
sorry for the thread jacking but i wanted to make sure theres no wrong info

Thanks! I only know that I'm paying far less than I normally would be. In April I made an online reservation for a hardtop mustang with Hertz, I also paid for it in advance. When I arrived in Las Vegas, the guy at the hertz desk first tried to sell me an upgrade to a '11 convertible, but as I was already paying about $1500 (~€1100) for 4 weeks, I decided to stick with the '09 hardtop he said he had for me. I had to wait while it was getting cleaned.
After a while he called me to the counter, there seemed to be a problem because I heard him calling to other hertz locations to ask if they still had a hardtop mustang on their lot. At that point I saw my fear of getting the "or similar" instead of my long awaited mustang take shape. The guy punched in some things on the computer and said it was my lucky day because he was giving me the convertible at no extra charge. It has the neverlost system too (normally around $20 per day) so I've really won the jackpot that day :-)
