I think the early BBK CAI's had a larger than stock tube diameter at the MAF housing, and maybe that's where they earned their reputation of throwing CEL codes. The later ones have a stock diameter at the MAF housing, then flair out the pipe to a larger diameter the rest of the way to the throttle body.
