help... cut Y pipe to short
#11
I think OP is referring to the right side of the picture, I looked at it to for a moment and thought the same as you guys! And after further review he is flush on the right side meaning not enough pipe to fit into the X pipe!

You may be right - but there is a little bit there. With a band clamp that is 2.5" on one side and 2.25" on the other (which I believe is the band clamp used as OEM), plus a weld at that point, he should be fine.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments. Sorry it took a while to post the outcome but we've had a cold snap/snow storm in New England making the install much harder (my hands were basically ice cubes). You guys were right about the driver side section. It was actually to long and I had to cut off another inch. Initially I cut to much on the passenger side and had about half an inch gap between the x pipe and y pipe stub (see pic). I solved it by buying a 2.25 ID to 2.25 OD adapter. Fit right over the old pipe and into the x pipe then I clamped everything up. I can't see any major leaks and when it warms ups the metal expands and there definitely aren't any.
I'm still working out a few rattles and weird vibrations. Out of curiosity have any of you reinstalled the harmonic balancers to stop the vibrations?
