Default Vinyl Removal Process

I will say this is a PITA, and I mean it. I started yesterday on removing my vinyl stripes since they were faded and spotty. I'm putting new black stripes on when I get my hood scoop installed, they are going to be 10" stripes instead of 8", also I'm adding a gt500 spoiler instead of the gt spoiler, if anyone wants it $35 plus shipping. Anyhow, removing the vinyl was rather easy I just used a blow dryer, got a corner to lift and start to pull while heating up with the blow dryer. It took about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs to do that, some spots especially the roof would just chip in small pieces. I finally got it all pulled and started to work on removing the left over residue, this was the fun part(not!!!). Tried some carquest adhesive remover, not really successful with that, that finished out Monday, I spent about 5 hrs. that day, woke up this morning and went and got some goo gone, this seemed to work better, it was a pain however, involved alot of scrubbing in very small areas at a time, I started about 9 this morning didn't get it done until about 2, had some breaks involved just to help with the frustration. Funniest part was the pollen stripes, just looked funny with that. I will take some pics of the solid red look, since this will be the only time I ever see it like this.

nice. My car has a nice pollen yellow tint to it right now

What's cooler and harder to see is the side stripe delete I did. You can see a hint of a deeper black behind where the stripe was that says Mustang

claybar the area to ensure all the grim and adhesive is removed before you put the new stripe on.

I would say that I got 99% of the adhesive off, I will do a full inspection and prep on Monday before I tape it off for striping.

YAY! Your car is going to look great.
I just really don't like 8in stripes, they look weak to me the new 10in stripes are going to look awesome. Of course post pics when you get them.

Can't wait, the stripes came today, they are so dark compared to the old ones, so stoked can't wait for Monday to come around to start to put them on.

Pictures of the 500 spoiler and the hood scoop bolted to the car, can't wait for Monday to stripe it.
