Default Anniversary Edition Value??

Hey guys, I am new to this whole forum thing but I was wondering if I did certain things to my car like lower it, put a CAI in it, and stuff like that, would it lower the value of the car because its anniversary edition?? Or would it lower the value of the car in general??

Minor mods won't affect the cars value positively or negatively. It's not a collectors item; anniversary edition or not.

If you are planning on selling it any time soon, I would not put anymore money into it.
However, if you are planning on keeping it for awhile do the mods you want, but realize you are going to take a hit when you do plan on selling it. I don't know of any mods that would really hurt the value of the car, unless you did something ugly to it, or messed with the electrical system.

I don't see how mods affect the value of the car, if it was a collector's car, that would be a different story, now if you did one day plan to get rid of it with mods, it will be impossible to get value for it unless you private sell it, the dealer will only give you their value and the mods won't matter then.

What's more valuable an Anniversary Model or the first year body style/last year engine? Think 84 corvette! Your car is worth what the market is willing to pay. Unless you decide to keep your car low miles for 40 more years. If not drive it like it was meant to be!

Look at it like this. Average guy shopping for a used Mustang shows up on a lot and there are two available. There's one with the CAI under the hood, obviously been lowered and maybe even an aftermarket exhaust and aftermarket wheels. It's obviously had someone wrenching on it. Next to it is the same model, same year, maybe a different color, but its bone stock. Which one is average guy going to buy? 99 times out of 100 he'll buy the bone stock car because the first thing almost everyone is going to wonder is "Did the previous owner of this obviously modified car know what he was doing or did he screw something up while he was wrenching on it?" Most of the time the inclination is to deduce that the car has probably got some issues arising out of some bone head wrenching on it and doing something he shouldn't have.

Car dealers know this too even if they don't say it or they are not obvious about it. The truth is it's easier to trade a stock car than it is to trade your hot rod project car, even it is just minor mods. You are more likely to get a better deal for the stock car. If you just had aftermarket tires and wheels thats one thing. But once you start messing around with the suspension and engine the red flags start going up when it comes time to trade. Also an anniversary edition car is always going to be worth more in factory original condition than if it has been modified.

Here is another thought....if you want to lightly mod your car for your enjoyment, do it, but keep the stock parts so that you can revert back to stock if and when you decide to sell your car.
I have no idea why I keep my original V6 exhaust or the stock ¼ windows....I don't plan on selling my car, but you never know.
