Default Racing Stripes

Ok, so I have a Red 2005 V6 and want to put white racing stripes on it. Should I buy decals or get it painted on? and how much do you think painting them on would cost?

Thanks

Depends on where you want the stripes to start/end.

You could get two 10" or 8" vinyl stripes covering bumper to bumper for about $300-$400 including installation.

Painted on, you're looking at about 1k total for bumper to bumper to have the area prepped and painted over.

If you want the painted stripes to sit flush with the rest of the paint, we're talking about prepping the entire panels and shooting two different colors (red and white in your case) then the clear. That is majorly expensive (2k-3k from what I've heard around these parts).

If you don't plan on owning the car for a while, vinyl might be the way to go. Vinyl fades and cracks over time and depends on whether the car is garage kept or not because the sun can bake those stripes. Don't know what the effect of snow/road salt would be since I don't live up North.

Mine lasted about 2 years before they started looking like crap when you got up close to it.

Go vinyl unless you are loaded. Basically, the front and rear bumpers, spoiler, the trunk lid, the hood, and the roof will all have to be stripped and repainted, which will be around 500 bucks per part (spoiler less, hood and roof more) which brings us to around 3 thousand dollars.

hmm ok well I cant afford 3k as a college student and do want it all the way from bottom of bumper to bottom of bumper, and I have a hood scoop. So how hard is it to take of vinyl because I will probably have the car at least 2-3 more years and I guess ill just have to replace the vinyls.

www.decalshoppe.com has good prices.

I just ordered a set of duel 10 inch white stripes with 1/4 pinstriping for $95 out the door for my 04 Mustang Torch Red. Good for 6 years. And I'll prob pay about $150 to $200 to get em installed.

graphicsexpress.com or .net is where I got my vinyl 3M stripes almost 6 years ago. Kept out of the sun, they're lasting fine. Had the hood ones painted on when I got the hood.

Place I linked can do custom stuff too. They made me 11 inch wide duel stripes with 1/4 pinstripe on each side and the website only shows 9 inch available. Just email em what you want and they can do it.

Didn't even charge me extra for the 2 inches wider that I wanted.
