So I am going to have this rebuild sooner than later (its getting repaired in about 2 weeks). I am very frustrated that I have to drop this kind of money into a car with only 67,000 miles, but it was a used car and a Mustang, not a old mans sedan like what I drive.....

The Ford dealership that I have service work done at (which does NOT charge an arm & a leg), allows me to bring in my own parts and install them (HUGE savings) with no guff or extra fees. My question is should I purchase any aftermarket parts to make this a little stronger ? I don't have a list of parts that are being replaced, but obviously the servo bore, bands, etc............If so, what parts ?

We are going to keep this for a while...

Appreciate all the help, I can tell there are people who are passionate about their Ponys.......

Mine had to be rebuilt at 60,000 mi. I purchased the car right after it was rebuilt. The fluid prior to the rebuild was from the factory...don't know if fluid change would have helped this transmission. I believe a part failed and it just started acting up. Dealer rebuilt it and shifts great now. Good luck!

Well after the servo bore problem, and solenoid replaced - No problems!!!
Shifts like a million dollars. In fact, this transmission shifts about as good as I can remember a transmission shifting.

No flares, no vibration, no shudder, no harsh/hard shifts!!

Yes it cost us some $$ but its better to know its been taken care of properly.....

My folks have an 03 explorer with 135k and no problems. Shifts like new still.

I sweat my exhaust note is deeper with the rebuild and new o2 sensor. Sounds more like the explorer.

I don't know why but the Explorer v6 seems to have a deeper exhaust note although it is more muted. I have a GT takeoff which helps...

This reminds me that I should probably change the tranny fluid in my car before she goes in for her tune with the turbo.
