Default just wondering

i was just wondering what would happen if you put one new brake pad
and one used pad with a new rotor I know this sounds weird but my mechanic
said it might warp the rotor and i was going to change out my pads and rotors
next week and noticed one of the pads is more worn than the otherside
it is the outside pad on the drivers side.
thanks

You will probably cause the car to pull real hard when braking to that side. This situation can really suck in a panic stop situation. Brakes are one thing you do not skimp on, or play around with. Do it right.

yea dude i had a car that had a worn brake on one side and a newer one on the other. When i would stop at a light it would pull to the right kinda hard. very annoying and could be dangerous

I'm not sure why you would do this anyway. When you buy the pads they come as a set.

Uneven wear is normally a sign of a bad caliper so I would have it checked.

Plan on getting new rotors if you do that. You might need them anyway...I have found rotors now a days are cheap from the factory and will warp with new pads..esp. if you panic stop a lot. I replace rotors even if they look fine. But then again I change brakes maybe every 80k on the cars I own. I'm a conservative driver.
