Default Looking to buy a v6

Hey guys looking for a little bit of help. I am looking to buy a v6 mustang. I have a 2005 GT that I love, but recently got a new job and its a bit of a drive and don't want to put all the miles on the GT. So the V6 would be the DD and the GT the weekend car. I found a 2005 v6 that isn't too bad but would like some opinions on it

If you notice all of the gauges except the speedometer aren't working, possibly a fuse?

Missing lower front grille

The plastic cover in the trunk that covers up the tail lights is pretty messed up

The gear indicator piece (or whatever its called) doesn't move so it says its always in park

Driver door handle doesn't work properly

Numerous scratches on it

I test drove it and everything seemed fine mechanically. they listed it for 11 and some change kbb says 10000 in perfect condition and it is by no means perfect. What would you guys be willing to pay for it??

Seems a bit high. I got my 2007 V6 with 20k miles on it for $12.5k in March and it has options like a Shaker 500 and the premium interior stuff like leather steering wheel etc. That was after a couple of months of pretty hardcore looking though. I came across a few other V6s that had very low miles and sold for around $12k. They did sell fast though. I'd say keep looking.

Damn with that many miles? I wouldn't pay over $7k for it and that would be pushing it.
All in all I would look for a better car if they won't come down quite a bit from that price.

I'm not looking to drop much into it... just want it to drive back and forth to work... and on days I don't the girlfriend can take it to work. I agree Tanner05 idk if its even worth 7, but it did drive great. I also believe a teenager was the owner of the car because I popped the hood and it had wiring for an amp, so that means it probably has been abused. Anyone else have an opinion??

Might go to 8,000. But that would be top dollar. Guessing it's been road hard and put away wet. Just looking around ebay, looks like you could do better.

Pulled up the carfax on the car and for the first 4 years or so it had less than 40k on it then the last 4 years close to 80k.... based on the city it was serviced in I am guessing that this car was owned by someone in the Military. It was serviced pretty regularly the first 4 then hardly ever after that.

Any heavy repairs done while it was under warranty? Any signs of the water leak? The door handle can be fixed pretty easily, I believe another member here recently had his door handle cable(?) snap or something (not a common problem obviously), the gauges might be stepper motors and that too can be repaired (I think there are step by step DIY threads on this one too).

Sounds like a car that's been a little abused (especially from the missing lower grille) but the 4.0 isn't exactly a weak motor. I would recommend you take a peek under the rear bumper and see if there's any rubber or rock chips from donuts/"pseudo" burnouts or such.

I'd skip it, you don't need an irresponsibly owned 4.0 from 05 that could end up with failing parts soon if its been abused (steering pump/fuel pump to name a few of the expensive ones).

No major repairs , just routine stuff ... No signs of water damage ... Thought about the gauges being the stepper motors, but I just found it odd that they all would be bad already

Yeah that does seem odd that they would all be out like that, but I'm not sure if each gauge has its own fuse or if it's just the whole cluster, in which case the speedo shouldn't be working either...

If you do get it, I would try to talk him down to like 7K. Not sure why, but that missing lower fascia makes me wary. Looks like a pretty neglected 4.0 for a high price IMO.

The dealer said they weren't gonna invest any time/money in it... Makes me wonder
