Have you compared the CAI w/ tune vs. stock box w/ tune?

In order to run the stock air box with a tune, you need a tune written specifically for that due to the reduced airflow of the stock box vs the CAI. The PCM needs to be told how much air the engine is ingesting. That's one reason why many folks go to the CAI & tune combo instead of just a tune. Once you feel the power from just a tune, you'll want to maximize it with the CAI and then need to order a new tune.

I got the steed cai and a bama tune. I noticed a big difference from just those two. I recently put on a BBK throttle body and that made a noticable difference too. I would say its worth it, but it depends on how much money you wanna spend for a few more ponies.

On my 07 GT an airraid intake with the no tune insert the car picked up about 1 mile an hour in the quarter and about a tenth and a 1/2 to my surprise. Adding a BAMA tune improved things about 4 tenths more and an additional 3 1/2 MPH improvement. Automatic car , stock tires and gears.

No, I have not. I do not have a custom tune for a stock airbox.

No-tune-required CAIs will not benefit as much from
a tune added later be it custom or not.
CAIs that require a tune and have a tune sold with them
will then take full benefit of the increased airflow of
the tune-required-CAI.

Junk that no-tune AIRAID for a tune-required CAI and
purchase a Brenspeed tune written specifically for it.
