not to change subject but for all you 4.0 guys with the 8.8, what is needed exactly to put an 8.8 in the back of these cars? also where did you guys find an 8.8 for it? I can get one for 800 bucks but if I can find it cheaper im gonna be all over it
and I would say keep the 4.0
with my 08 v6 with exhaust, intake, and bama tune it ran a 14.8 which is what my 03 gt ran stock.

So I'm getting to the point where I'd like a little more power from my ride. So I've been making plans to build 4.0l to safely support around 300hp as a DD/weekend fun car.
Problem is, I start calculating what it takes to accomplish my goals. Forced induction will be necessary which will run around $6000. The rear end will be $1000 - $1500 depending on if I can find a decent takeoff. Replacing the T5/clutch/driveshaft will likely run me another $2000- $2500. So I'd be looking at $9K to $10K for a car that would probably run close to a bolt on 3.7.
So I've been thinking about just cutting my losses with the 4.0 selling or trading it and using the 9 grand to find a nice used 2011+. I'm seeing some good prices on used 3.7's and it will likely be better next spring when I plan on doing one or the other.
So what say ye? Keep my car and drop some cash/sweat in it, or swap it up? Direct experience between the two engines greatly appreciated.

A brand new 2014 Base is around $18,000 you can move up from there.
I had to have the Premium Convertible, that was non-negotiable , but every cat has his own wants & expectations.. Some dealers are just knocking $6,500 off any 2013, just take your pick !
We are thrilled with our '14 convert, I figure it was my last chance to get Glory Days type Muscle Car. Except we've already had a flat tire that I just had fixed a couple hours ago....
If'n ya go V-6, I only wish I had Performance Pkg. w/ .335 gears.
Seems your car & $10,000 goes a long was towards a Brand New G.T.

3.7 all the way. But there is a lot to be said about owning your car and not having to pay someone else 2-350 a month. Just a thought.
However, A little story... When the rice rage it back in 99, I had an Acura Integra. It was an RS with a B18B(Not VTEC). I bought into the hype and spent nearly 7k on the car in mods. When all was said and done about 160HP at the wheels (JR supercharger - In retrospect it sucked ***). I guess the point is... If your gonna spend the money anyway, go with a faster and new car. In hindsight, I should have.

I feel like ai just wasted two hours of my life reading answers the op never asked. not just in this thread. I'd like to know what it takes to put a 3.7 in a 07. I have my reasons and they don't matter. I have a donor car 2011 for free. My baby is an 07 cause that is the best body style. I'm attracted to the 30mpg and 300HP!
So is it an easy swap, by easy I mean do I need to make parts? Not worried about labor costs.

I love my 4.0 and like the looks of it better than the newer stangs. I guess if I was to go off the deep end I would drop a 4.6 in it. If I just wanted more power then go with FI. Even with it being an 07 I just bought new rear wheels and I have a Roush front bumper I need to get painted and put on. Car only has 36XXX miles so I have a lot more life in the old girl.
