I am using the Taylor Street Thunder also. I usually like to stick with motorcraft also but like you said they are more than double the price. I have been very happy with the taylor; haven't had any issues, they fit great, and are made in USA. I would definitely recommend them if you are going to buy aftermarket.

The spark plugs are often an issue. I replaced my stock wires with some aftermarket 8mm wires.
If you need a set of stock wires, I have a stock set with 20k miles I'll sell ya!

When was your air filter changed? That could be an issue, too.
But yea, changing the plugs (and making sure they are gapped properly), cleaning the maf, changing fuel filter, and changing air filter, the plug wires would be a reasonable next option.
Although if i had a tuner device (which many of us do), I'd datalog the fuel trims and see what they are showing at idle, as you could also have a vacuum leak somewhere.
