Smile Under hood whining sound (did search first)

Hi guys
So the stang began making a whining sound, not very loud but noticeable inside.
Seems to come from under the hood but when inspected cant find the origin, at first tought of the pulley or alternator but they dont make that sound. Searched the forums but the sound applies to the car in movement, mine does this at idle or moving, started when the cold climate started. V6 2007 auto. Tomorrow will put the car on some ramps to inspect but wanted a little advise first.

Well, took advantage of a free day and changed sparkplugs, darn things where in there since built, never changed (only about 4 months with me). So followed a suspicius oil stain on the radiator and turns out the transmission radiator is cracked on the lower fitting. It is a pain to take out and guess it will be worst to put in again.
So guess low trans oil = sound. Sucks to not have a trans dipstick. Now to fill up again will have to pay some shop as I dont have the special fitting and pump.

Well there you go! I would get that thing fixed ASAP.... Low auto trans fluid is bad.

@ 2005Redfire6 thanks for the reply, trans oil is filled (2.5 qt) but the sound is still there, maybe there is traped air? if so how to purge the system?

Busted transmi, the car will be on hold for a while.
While this has to be fixed, what is it required to add the ratchet shifter and avoid busting the transmi again because of manually shifting on an Auto trans?.

So transmission overhaul did take care of the sound, problem is now when cold start will not go in to reverse or drive, have to rev the engine a few times to make it engage.
Trans shop rebuilt again (so they claim), changed 3 times solenoid body, 3 times valve body and now say the problem is electronic. Shop guy says that the TFT is making a malfunction on the Cold Start Valve.
Found a site where they "eliminate" cold start valve by changing the spring array making the valve permanently allow fluid flow and making correct function on cold start.
site is an explorer forum and will post if its allowed here.

Does anyone know if doing this will result on something worse?

Thanks for any help.
