Default 45 days with my SCT tuner and BAMA tunes on my 14 V6

I wanted to wait and give a good review of my SCT tuner and BAMA tunes that I bought about 45 days ago thru American Muscle. Got the "free tunes for life" with purchase and at the time of purchase, I picked the 3 available tunes all in 91 octane. Street, Performance and Race.

My 2014 V6 Convertible has: Airaid CAI + MBRP axelbacks

When I first loaded the 91 Street tune, it was OK. Nothing substantial. Little more low-end, but not drastic. My Mustang felt a little better off the line, but quickly faded back to stock since this tune is only for low RPM. Drove with this tune for 1 week.

Then I loaded the 91 Performance tune, much better. I could definately feel a much stronger mid-range and a little low-end too. Mustang would really GO if you put your foot in it driving 35-40mph. Shift points seemed firmer and quicker with this tune as well. I drove with this tune for 1 week.

Next, loaded the 91 Race tune. Very sharp throttle response. Mustang felt like it wanted to GO at mid-range and upper-range in RPMs. Low end was not much different vs Performance tune, but throttle response was much sharper. I did notice I lost some MPGs with this tune. Not drastic, maybe 0.5mpg-1mpg over the 1 week I ran this tune.
You can drive this as a daily tune, no problem.

I called BAMA and asked for the HYBRID tune to be emailed to me. Told the rep I wanted the 91 Octane Hybrid tune (combines the Street + Race) and within minutes it was in my inbox. Super FAST email response.

Now, this is the tune to have. Skip the others, just get this one. The Mustang is a totally different car now. Low-end power is there (better than just the Street or Performance tunes) and mid-upper RPM range is insane. Punch it and you get shoved back in your seat. Throttle response is immediate and sharp. Take off from a stop, the Mustang feels much stronger (better than just the Street or Performance tunes) and mid-upper range is VERY STRONG. Throttle lag is almost non-existant....still there but has been corrected about 90%. Shift firmness and quickness is identical to the Race tune, but combining the Street tune + Race tune is genius.
I have been running this tune for over a week and loving it. MPGs are about the same as STOCK (Trip Computer says I am getting 18.8mpg in the city) and that's about what I was getting before any tunes.
**Mustang only has 3,300 miles on it. So, over time I would imagine the MPGs will get better. I am taking it in for 1st oil change next week.

Overall, the 91 Octane Hybrid Tune is the clear winner in my opinion. Hope this helps. PM or post with any questions.

I've been debating getting an sct tune and cold air intake to wake up my 05 V6, however, I'm not sure whether I will feel the difference. Will i?

Would the performance tune not be a hybrid of the street and race?

When I ordered my tuner from AM and I got to choose 3 tunes, I picked the race tune but in the comments section I asked them to replace the race tune with the 91 octane hybrid tune since the hybrid tune wasn't in the options. I received my tuner with the 91H already loaded as requested.

I've been running the hybrid tune for a while and I too love it for the same reasons you have mentioned. I have almost 4k miles on my car.

If anyone is planning on ordering a Bama tune I would suggest doing as I did and request a hybrid tune in place of one of the others.

I have only heard of 87, 91 & 93 tunes. The fuel around here is 87, 89 & 93. Does Bama do 89, do people just use it with 93 octane or do y'all have 91 where you live?

I don't have 93 octane in my area so the highest I can get is 91.

Actually, now that you mention it, maybe it is 91. I don't buy it so I rarely look at what it is. I do know that 87 and 89 are sold here.

We only have 87,89,91 here also. I'm saving up for my tuner since I got my CAI. Is there a tune that will work for both 91 and 89, if gas gets higher again?

You can have a tune for each and switch tunes if you want to change gasoline grades.

With the 87 tunes you can run any octane (87,89,91,93). But with the 91 tune you can only run 91 or higher and the 93 you can only run 93. If you run a lower octane with the 91 or 93 you will damage the engine
