Tuner for stock V6, worth it?

The tuner and tunes is the way to go first. You will need to retune anyway to take full advantage of any other mods you make later. I got the SCT tuner with all 93 octane tunes for my 2012 V6 six speed. It's a night and day difference from stock to the 93 octane race tune. And, I can get 30+mpg at 70mph with the air on if I keep my foot out of it. Every now and then, I will tune it back to stock just to remind myself of what it was like. Oh yeah, the tuner was easily worth the money I paid for it.

I recently tuned my 3.7 v6 as well with the Bama Tuner from AmericanMuscle. They provide you with three tunes: Street, Performance, and Race. I installed the Street tune and noticed a decent gain in the low end. A lot more pull. Drove that for a few tanks and then loaded the Performance. This performance tune took away the low end power the street tune had, but the top end pulls a lot harder. Not a big fan of this performance tune because I like to treat my lady nicely and try not to go over 3k too much. I am going to load the race tune next after a couple more tanks. But so far, for a daily driver I am loving the street tune because I have gained low end power where I feel these 3.7s tend to lack.
So to answer your question.. YES the tune is worth the money! Get it! I've also gained an extra mpg or two combining the tune with an intake. (AirAid FTW!) You will not be disappointed

It made my stock V6, which was fun already, into a really fun ride. It jumps off the line... at least until I put a BBK CAI on it.. the jury is still out, working it as we speak. I'm about ready to yank that BBK pos off and just run the stock air cleaner.
Bottom line - it is well worth the money in my book!

If you change out the shaker for a different head unit would you expect Ford to warranty the sound system if it breaks? Same thing when you change the Ford programming for the engine; if you blow the engine, break a piston, etc, then Ford will look to the tune as the cause.
Someone asked if Ford was going to warranty my car for the engine issue. I wouldn't expect them to; after I added the turbo then it was no longer the car that Ford built and when I had an engine problem it is my money to fix it (looks like I may have chipped 2 pistons after doing a leak down test so likely that we had a lean condition that we didn't spot at WOT, and couldn't have done anything about it even if I spotted it on the AFR gauge at that point).
