Default Does re-doing your tune make the computer forget everything?

I'm going to install a Zabteck tb today and I'm supposed to unplug my battery for an hour but I'm wondering if I just plug in my tuner and re download the tune to my car will it make it forget everything?

No, re-installing a tune does not clear the Adaptive Learning in the PCM. And disconnecting the battery doesn't affect whatever tune you have loaded but DOES dump the Adaptive Learning data that not only is likely sucking some performance from the engine but also will allow the PCM to relearn the newer data more quickly.

Let us know how that TB install goes.

Cool thanks for the info. Got the tb on and it's quite a noticeable difference in power with my X. I still have to disconnect the battery though, I just moved so I don't have many tools with me now - are there any special tools it requires to disconnect or is it just a socket wrench?

Just a socket but you'll likely need to do the ol' wiggle-back-and-forth while applying some upward force.

On a few occasions, the engine will run a bit rough, mainly an uneven idle, until the PCM gets a few data points under it's belt. That could take a few dozen miles.

Glad you warned me, I'm planning on getting this done this morning, how long do I really need to wait to clear out the adaptive learning? I've read some people say 30 minutes others say two hours.

I don't think there is an exact time. If some people say two hous, where's the harm in a little patience?

20 minutes of disconnected battery will clear the learned data.
You can also "Clear DTC Codes", if you have the ability to do so even if you have no codes, and that will clear the memory as well.

Reloading the tune will clear the learned values.

An 8mm wrench will loosen the negative cable connector at the battery, and then wiggle it or spread it apart to get the terminal separated.

The same can be accomplished by pulling just a few PCM fuses
in the BEC under the hood.
Much easier and safer than messing with the battery connection.
Doing it once by the battery cable method is fine. But after about
the 5th time you do it, it gets old and just wears out a connection
that was never designed to be installed and removed multiple times...
