Default V6 Gas Mileage? With Tune?

I used to get a constant 26mpg on my 06 V6. As anyone who has been reading this forum can see, I've been complaining about having to make a BBK CAI work, it apparently had quite the vaccum leak. Anyway, after tightening it all up, the car runs really well. I haven't engaged AM/Bama yet about re-tuning after all the vaccuum problems (my bad), but I'm only getting about 19.5 mpg now. Is that normal? I would have hoped my gas mileage would have at least stayed close, I know I'm romping on it a little more but I used to romp it before all this also.
I was just wondering what other V6 drivers typically get, especially if they have tuned up. Oh, I'm using the street tune, not the perf or racing ones!

26mpg? Are you judging that from the on-board calculator or are you calculating that by hand? Also surely if you are anywhere near 26 mpg it is a manual? With my 4.0 I would get 17-19 combined... 25 hwy if I was lucky. 19 sounds right.

I use a calculator, I don't have anything like an onboard indicator. It was highway a lot, but thru downtown Denver so it really wasn't highway. Now, it is a mix and not too much differently that the type of driving i was doing before. Maybe it is more city type driving than I think, and maybe i'm just driving her harder... oh well, thanks. I had hoped someone would tell me what their usual mileage was.

I was getting 17-19 like mentioned with 4.10s, supercharger, etc. But even N/A I didn't get much better than that if at all.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with the CAI! I wanted to ask if you had switched to any of the other tunes to see if the consumption changed in any way. If you're to have any questions and would like to speak with a tuner directly don't hesitate to shoot us a call at 888.226.9764 and we're here to help!

Bone stock here and that is exactly what I get. My vert is a cruiser, not a racer. I am happy with the V6, but if I realized how pathetic the mileage was, I would have gotten the V8. Obviously, I didn't do enough homework before I bought it.

Hey Alex, it's all good. I was frustrated for a while, I love the way it runs. Maybe I was on drugs or something, but I remember being very happy with the gas mileage on the Stang before I left Colorado. Down here in Florida I'm driving it a lot more, and with the tuning work, paying much more attention to it.
If that is normal, I'll be content. Yeah Steve, I agree. That isn't very good although I love driving it now after all the tuning work. It's fun, had just hoped for better mileage.

Understood. I'm a hypochondriac with my car and I swear I pick up when it's acting abnormally. I'm not a scientist here but maybe the altitude had something to do with it!

Mileage can be 26 MPG highway or better and then 15 MPG city with the V6. My wife has long term detailed mileage records for her '06 Pony; quite the story there...; but ANY engine will yield extreme fuel mileage swings with extreme driving conditions. When she drove 95% stop n go, she was getting 15-16 MPG. Now she drives about 40% city, 60% rural (very little highway) and averages about 22-24.

You COULD get an economy tune but the soccer mom's will pop you the finger when they pass you.
