Airbag Fault Code #33
2006 Mustang V6 with airbag code #33.
Blinks triple, pause, triple. Repeats cycle 4 times then turns on solid.
I have been researching airbag 33 fault code on the internet and keep getting different answers.
I tend to think it's a driver side seat belt pretensioner alert.
What do you think Code #33 is??????????????????

Code 33 is for the pass side airbag, open circuit or high resistance. This circuit is however tied to the pass side seatbelt mechanism. There is a switch in that circuit that is tied to the airbag function. Did someone spill a coke down in the seatbelt latch? I would start investigating that equipment. There is likely nothing wrong with your pass side airbag, is more than likely the seatbelt switch.
Might be multiple switches - one in the latch and may be others in the inertia reel assembly.
Good luck.

Confused
This is why I'm confused. Mechanic58 says it is the passenger side airbag.
I found this link to the 2005 Mustang service manual that says it's the driver side not passenger side. I have a 2006 but this service manual is 2005.

I don't recall now where I found it. Do a google search. The majority of the search results confirm code 32 is driver's side and code 33 is passenger's side. Not just on this particular model either, it's industry standard apparently.

I have the exact same issue and have not been able to figure it out. Checked all circuits - replace passenger pretension-er. Even made resistor termination plugs for side airbag connections. That contradicting error code info for code 33 is frustrating to say the least. Ready to give up on it unless someone knows of a proven troubleshooting technique.

Are you using a code scanner? If not, go to an Autozone, etc and have them read the code for you to see if it is an active code or a history code. Safety items have to store the code for a certain number (50 I think) of ignition cycles even if the problem goes away.
