My $1300, 2005 Mustang

Our detail guys were always amazed at the nice jewelry they would find. It was always fun asking the customer if they had lost a diamond ring, and returning it.
Wow, that's harsh.
Anyway- I just happened to see this and the pictures of the shifter gave me flashbacks to the beater '97 Camry I had a couple years ago.
When I bought the interior was clean but the surround and the little plate thing that moved with the shifter was all screwed up (it didn't show it as being in the right gear), and partially falling down in around the shifter, so I pulled it off to try to fix it. Holy crap, I found 14 years worth of junk down in there, I'm not even sure how all of it got through that opening. There was a set of somebody's house keys on a keychain, a pair of reading glasses, candy, gum, fossilized French fries, and probably $3 worth of change, among other things. Amazing the sort of things you find in vehicles sometimes.

Got a little bit of work done yesterday. Now I'd just like to say that I am absolutely TERRIBLE at spray painting anything. This time was no exception, but it came out acceptable. If you're wondering why I was painting, you may remember this stuff on the dash face plate.
Me sanding down the face plate for the dash.
All taped up and ready to paint.
First coat of paint.
And to be honest you really shouldn't work on a car without alcohol.
While the first coat of paint is drying up a bit, I figured I'd replace the antenna on my car. Not sure why it's so bent.
Fortunately my wife put a shorty antenna on her car a few months ago and we still have her antenna.
Much better.
Again, I'm terrible at painting so I know it didn't come out great, but it's better than it was.
Time to finish getting it all back together now.
Since that super glue holding the shifter cover broke in this cold weather, I decided to use something that wouldn't break. Got some JB Weld on it.
Then I sanded back down the silver trim that I ruined trying to get the shifter cover out.
Came out ok.
Car is pretty much back together for now.

Glad this is back open!
For the plastic pieces you painted; I'd use a fine grit sand paper on them to smooth them out and remove some of that paint, hit it with a plastic friendly primer, and then slowly build up the paint (just a light mist at first). It takes time and patience.

I did run into an issue today. It was raining all morning. Wife called and needed me to bring her work keys. I jump in the car thinking I'll take the mustang, and as soon as the car starts to move water POURS out from behind the glove box.

I'd abort that climate/radio bezel for a new one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-06-07-08-09-FORD-MUSTANG-TEMPERATURE-CLIMATE-CONTROL-W-TRIM-BEZEL-508355-/321591425718?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2005%7CModel%3AMustang&hash=item4ae057bab6&vxp=mtr

OK, don't have time to clean up right now so I'm locking this again. (didn't lock it the first time).
Will re-open eventually and delete moronic posts.
DSargent and cruisin, you both need to chill or else.
Also, anyone that use a car as a personal trash can doesn't deserve to be treated fairly on a trade in.
If you don't give a schit about your own car then why would someone else give you a fair value for it because in that case, no one is taking advantage of you. You're simply an idiot.
Besides, that woman wasn't forced to sign the papers, was she?
The OP did nothing wrong.
