New (to me) 2006 4.0
I just got my hands on a 2006 4.0 5 speed.
The car is higher mileage (192,000km) but from what I've read about the 4.0's they are good for 300,000+ miles (480,000km) with proper maintenance.
I am going to be changing the oil, transmission fluid and rear diff fluid with all synthetic.
I am also going to:
Change out the plugs - any suggestions on best brand?
Seafoam the motor and clean out the throttle body - good idea?
Start pricing out a tune, dual exhaust and CAI - any suggestions?
Is there anything else I need to be looking into with a higher mileage 4.0?
It is running great, not missing, clutch is good, car rides just fine. I may have to get into a front end alignment as the steering wheel is a little off center, but I'm not concerned about it.
Thanks in advance everyone!

Stock autolite plugs are all you need. The other pricey plugs offer no advantage and some will cause problems. I ran the stock plugs on my 2006 with the Xcharger Xtreme and drove it 203,000 miles. The current owner has about 225,000 on it.

225,000 miles? That's awesome, I'm happy to hear that these cars have some good longevity...I was a little worried about buying a higher mileage one

Congrats on the new car, guy. The 4.0 is a solid motor for what it is and I really miss my 05 V6. When it was written off it had 197000 kms and still ran like a top, so if it your motor was taken care of equally well you can be confidant it will last a long time. Change your plugs, wires, fluids and watch for the infamous thermostat housing leak; and you're all set. Also if your steering is off, check the ball-joints, probably shot if factory original.
Lots of options for exhaust and intake/tunes. Not sure where in Ontario your located, but we have some good shops in both the east and west end. I've also always had great experiences with american muscle.com so consider them too.
Welcome to the site and have fun with her this summer.

[QUOTE=07 Stang;8529986]Is it the V8 that has issues with spark plugs breaking?
Yes, they use a kind of two-piece plug that does not always come out in one piece. V6 uses 'regular' plugs and no problems.
