Question Need Bigger Tires

I recently purchased 20" X 8.5" deep dish bullet wheels and Nitto Invo 255/35/20 tires for my '14 stock V6. I love the rims and hate the tires. I did not do my normal amount of research and made a rush decision to purchase.

I did not realize how much of a low profile tire this set from American Muscle is. I really do not like the look at all. I don't want to lower my car.

I want a bigger tire for these 20 inch rims.

How can I determine the biggest tire, in terms of sidewall height, that I can fit without any rubbing issues?

Again, rims are 20" X 8.5". Thanks

You may be limited how much larger in diameter you can go than a 35 aspect ratio on a 20". Clearance in the rear is probably going to fine no mater what but, up front is where it may introduce problems. Also, the overall height of wheel + tire of your 255/35 R 20 is probably comparable as your previous wheels/tires. The illusion of lowering is because a 255/35 R20 looks like a rubber band on the rim.

Also, if you change the overal wheel+tire height, your speedo will be off. Do you have a tuner you can correct the speedo with?

I'd go to Discount or Big O tires to discuss options with them. They may even be nice enough to test fit a couple sizes for you to make the decision easier.

On a personal note, 20" is way too big for a 2005-2010 Mustang.

I wonder if AM will work with you nd maybe give yu some crdit towards a different size if you just got them? I went with the 19's and really like them.

Did you hate the look of the tire or the performance. I will be putting these on 19" rims. I think they will look fine but just wanted to know the performance of the invos vs nt05

No, I like the 19's look..more sidewall than the 20's..but not too much so it still has that low profile look. The ride is a bit stiffer than the 17''s because there is less give in the sidewall, but it corners like nothing else..the invo's grip great. Went through some heavy rain in them and had no problems at 75MPH

255/35r20 is the proper size to match the stock 27" diameter. My 2012 came with 275/40R19 tires on all 4 (brembo wheels) when I bought it, which is 27.7" diameter. My car is also lowered with Ford Racing springs and clearance isnt an issue. Given your 8.5" wheel width you wouldnt want to go that wide. A 245/40R20 tire is 27.7" so that should work for you as well.

Thanks for the good info. Is there a website that will give me the outer diameters? If not, where did you get those numbers? Not challenging, just would like to see more numbers like that.

Here is what I am have now and I just don't like it.

There are multiple websites that let you calculate and compare tire sizes
